The Story Behind Hope
Hope International is a non-profit organization, legally incorporated in the state of Maryland. It has been in existence since November 1993. The idea was born in April 1990. During an unforgettable trip to Haiti a seed was planted in the heart of Mike Hall, that would eventually become Hope International, Inc. Watching the missionaries and national pastors struggle to do God’s work because of limited resources, Mike was deeply impressed by the real needs. Some of them were normal living expenses, some were needs related to projects. The progress of ministry was being hindered in many cases because of these situations. It was clear that there were resources available in the U.S. that could help. A vision began to develop for what could be done to fill these needs in Haiti, and at the same time help to educate and broaden the perspective of people in the States. That vision continued to grow over the next two years as Mike took other trips. God stirred his heart to accept the challenge to devote his energies to this vital cause. After praying and seeking wise counsel, he knew the time was right. In 1993 he founded this organization, with the help of several friends.
Since it’s inception, Hope has raised money for a number of projects that have helped churches and schools in Haiti. Those projects included drilling a well and building a well house for a village, putting a concrete roof on a church and school building, as well as many other smaller projects. In addition to that, child sponsorships were established. Through the generous monthly giving of sponsors in the U.S. teachers are paid, school supplies are purchased, and children have been fed. Hope International is still growing and developing as a ministry.
Stay tuned for what God continues to do!
