A Letter from Pastor Opont, Delmas 32,
Port au Prince, Haiti July 24, 2010
God bless you my brothers and sisters in the Lord. I think of you everyday and my busy schedule has prevented me from writing to you as often as I would like. My secretary for close to ten (10) years got married last June 12th. I was alone at school as principal and secretary in the morning and in the afternoon to help her because I`m the only one she has who can help her with a car. Then, my little sister, Beatrice Opont got married also on the 10th of July and I had another couple yesterday the 22rd of July to help in their wedding at church, all of them kept me busy during the last two months.
As for the school, I have just started the final exams with the kids and will close for Summer doing the first week of August and will have my vacation. That happens so late just because of the eathquake and it will reopen in October in stead of September according to the principal of the education in Haiti.
As for the church, we still meet under the front part of the chuch that wasn`t too badly damaged, but it`s a very small space and it`s uncomfortable for us when everybody comes. Another situation is the church members who are under tents. The tents are very hot during the day and when it rains with wind, their situation is terrible and I don`t see any movement to solve this problem yet. When I pay a visit to them it breaks my heart to see them that way. Please keep on praying for us and for them.

Vacation of a Lifetime!
Mike and I have started planning a short trip to PaP.
The date of our 2010 group trip is Oct. 14-19. We are hopeing to take 8 people along with us and we are already half way there. So far we have 3 Pastors and 1 Businessman who are hoping to go. If you would like to join us and don't think you can go due to financial constraints please feel free to email me at don@hopeforhaiti.org I would love to share with you ways to rasie the needed funds. The estimated cost at this time is $1200.
I know safety is a concern for most people. We will be staying at a nice hotel on a walled and gated property that sustained very little damage during the quakes. The hotel has A/C, hot water, fans, back up electric, an on premise restaurant with American cuisine, nice size pool and according to the website they have free in room internet service. We will be sleeping 2-3 to a room.
This will be an "awareness" trip. The reason for these trips is to give you REAL information to share with others about our ministry in Haiti.
For some this may be late notice but we will plan another trip for February or March of 2011.
